Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who prides herself on her fervent devotion to gun ownership, is being skewered online after she taunted David Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, on Thursday night.

“David, please. We all saw how tough you were when questioned face to face. Give your keyboard a rest, child,” the Republican lawmaker tweeted after Hogg called her and fellow far-right extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) “threats.”

Boebert was referring to a video of Greene harassing Hogg, who had become an outspoken gun control advocate, on the streets of D.C. in 2019. In the video, Greene calls Hogg a “coward” and baselessly accuses him of being paid by billionaire George Soros.

“Sorry I was a little more worried about [Greene] not shooting my friends and staff with her concealed gun she was threatening us with than responding to your evil twin,” Hogg fired back at Boebert on Thursday.

The Georgia Republican’s attack on the shooting survivor was met with shock and horror on Twitter:

This is a truly unfathomable public statement for a sitting member of Congress to make https://t.co/ARjjnoq6O7

Is there a contest along the GOP freshmen to see which one of you can be the shittiest human being?

So a sitting Congresswoman cyber bullies the survivor of a high school gun massacre. This is the Republican Party today. https://t.co/P3ewOJ1iDM

Beyond the fundamental indecency of a congresswoman going after a college kid, not to mention a school shooting survivor, sits the bizarre take that David ignoring a crazy person accosting him on the street wasn’t what every law enforcement and security expert recommends. https://t.co/iqXeDRck2Z

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert is as vile as Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Why should a teen and gun violence survivor be “tough” when confronted by a lunatic spouting conspiracy theories? https://t.co/NFXJ9MuohO

As a child, he watched his friends die in a school shooting – but they cannot resist making a target of him. https://t.co/QTzMq6WIqd

Boebert and Greene, both adherents of the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory, have stirred outrage in recent weeks over their inflammatory rhetoric. Boebert has vowed to carry her gun on Capitol grounds and refused to go through a metal detector at the entrance of the House chamber.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) did not respond to TPM’s request for comment on Boebert’s tweet.
